Prashant Veer is an Indian cricketer who rose through age group and domestic cricket in Uttar Pradesh. He became widely known when Chennai Super Kings paid ₹14.20 crore for him in December 2025. His performances in the UP T20 League and domestic tournaments helped him reach the IPL.
He is a left handed batter who can score quickly and a left arm spin bowler. That mix of skills made him an attractive choice for T20 teams. His first IPL season came in 2026.
Prashant was born on 24 November 2005 in Amethi district, Uttar Pradesh. He grew up in the Sangrampur area before moving for cricket training. His birthday is recorded by the official IPL website, and Wikinbio uses that date to calculate his age automatically.
Cricket was an early interest. He began playing as a child, then travelled to places where he could train against stronger opposition.
His father, Ramendra Tripathi, worked as a Shiksha Mitra, a contractual schoolteacher. His mother, Anjana Tripathi, is a homemaker. During his early cricket career, money was limited and his family helped him continue training.
His grandfather also contributed to his cricket expenses. After CSK signed him, his father told reporters that Prashant should remain humble and concentrate on playing well. Mid-day and The Indian Express reported the family’s reaction.
His parents supported his decision to pursue cricket instead of giving up when training became expensive.
Prashant attended schools in the Amethi area, including Bharadwaj Academy and KPS School, according to local reporting. He later studied at the Mainpuri Sports Hostel and completed his higher secondary education in Saharanpur.
He trained in Amethi under Ghalib Ansari before moving to Saharanpur. There he worked with coach Rajiv Goyal, who helped him develop his batting and spin bowling. The move gave Prashant regular training and more competitive cricket.
He credits his coaches and family for supporting his progress. Dainik Jagran reported details of his schooling and early training.
Prashant also produced strong performances in the Under 23 State A Trophy and the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. His ability to contribute with bat and ball brought him to the attention of IPL scouts.
The UP T20 League gave him a chance to play regular matches against established state players. In 2025, he scored 320 runs and took eight wickets. Those numbers showed he could do more than one job for a side.
In September 2026, he captained Noida Kings and played an important part in a one run win over Kashi Rudras in the Eliminator. He scored an unbeaten half century and took two wickets, earning Player of the Match. The Tribune covered that match.
Prashant entered the IPL 2026 auction with a base price of ₹30 lakh. Bidding grew rapidly as teams competed for him. Chennai Super Kings finally bought him for ₹14.20 crore in December 2025.
His batting and spin bowling led to comparisons with Ravindra Jadeja, whose role had been important to CSK. But Prashant said he did not want to be judged as a direct replacement for an established player.
The auction price is the value of his IPL contract. It is not the same thing as his personal net worth or the amount he takes home after deductions.
Prashant played his first IPL match for CSK against Punjab Kings on 3 April 2026. Two days later, he scored 43 off 29 balls against Royal Challengers Bengaluru, his highest IPL score of the season.
He appeared in six matches during IPL 2026. Major season reports credited him with about 90 runs and no wickets from the small number of overs he bowled. He did not have the breakout first season some fans expected after his large auction price. Match records are available on Cricbuzz and the official IPL website.
Update, 2 November 2026: Reports said Chennai Super Kings were considering releasing Prashant before the IPL 2027 auction to free up money for other signings.
The club had not announced a final decision as of 3 November 2026. A possible release is not the same as a confirmed departure. Outlook India covered the reports.
Prashant bats left handed and bowls slow left arm orthodox spin. He often plays in the middle or lower order and can increase the scoring rate when a team needs quick runs.
His ability to bowl spin gives captains another option. That is why teams describe him as an all rounder rather than only a batter or bowler. He is still developing at the highest domestic and IPL levels.
Prashant’s known IPL contract value for the 2026 season was ₹14.20 crore. Some websites describe that amount as his net worth, but an auction price alone cannot tell us his personal wealth. He may also have domestic match payments and other earnings.
He has spoken openly about his parents and his cricket mentors. He has shared far less publicly about dating or marriage.
The Instagram account @prashant_ritik12 is widely associated with Prashant in cricket coverage. He also appears on the official Chennai Super Kings and IPL accounts, where fans can see practice sessions, match videos and career updates.
